It's The Ballroom Bliss!

E-Trender Sue Keels is getting ready to launch many new catering trends and showcase the latest in tabletop design at the upcoming, award winning Royal Park Hotel Ballroom Bliss!  Sue Keels and her fabulous catering and sales team invited over 300 clients for an inclusive and amazing night of inspiration!

The "Wow" flowing fabric color wash wall changed all night - it was a show stopper! 

 
Executive Chef Colin Brown created these adorable Micro Black Diamond Grilled Cheese Sandwiches & Tomato Bisque Soup Shooters!  The appetizer was a huge hit!

NACE Tabletop Wow!

We are getting ready to compete in the much anticipated National Association of Catering  Executives Tabletop Wow competition!  This year the tablescape concept needs to be centered around a movie theme and we have selected the movie "Mystic Pizza".  We look forward to creating a Mystic Pizza tablescape and excited to work with a great team of talented people!  Last year we took first place for the "Under the Sea" theme tablescape featuring a live mermaid!  Here is a sneak peak of what we are planning this year!

Creating Inspiration Boards

Inspiration boards are a great way to piece together many design elements and get a true vision of your color story and theme when planning your upcoming event. The boards are easy to create just pull pics from the web or favorite mags and design a collage on your computer or on a piece of poster board.  Here are a few examples of inspirational boards we love!

Trend Alert: Shot Glass Micro Dessert!

Micro desserts are a huge trend!  Why not try this next time you entertain?  Cut up some decadent brownies, add hot fudge and sprinkle nuts in the glass, top with whipped cream, add more nuts and a candy or cookie garnish.  Super easy and a very creative presentation!  Love it!

Whether fall inspires special event designers to go spooky with Halloween ghouls or gorgeous with autumn's hues, the season is rich with design opportunities.

PUMPKIN POWER

Susan Keels, director of catering at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Mich., lets the rich color of pumpkins inspire her buffet and tabletop decor. "Color trends are very similar to the [fashion] runway in New York,” she says. She turns to popular colors including burnt orange, copper, moss green and shades of plum for her autumn tablescapes. "When planning an event, it's important to select an inspiration piece, identify your color story and select elements that share a common thread during the entire dining experience," she says.

Keels lets pumpkins stand in for candles on candlesticks, and recommends giving the gourds a quick spray of Armor All—"It gives them a wax coat and makes them shine," she says.
