ET Trend Alert: Vintage Meets Modern!
We were inspired by a recent blog post created by Bakerella which showcased whoopie pies and thought it would be unique to take this vintage dessert idea and create a modern twist. In fact, we had so much fun with this project we decided to dedicate an entire week to whoopie posts and run a whoopie contest exclusively for E-Trender subscribers - compliments of Williams-Sonoma (thank you Lindsay - store manager)!
Whoopie pies have been enjoyed by generations and pure “edible nostalgia”. The sweet treats originated in Amish country,
The dessert consists of cakelike sandwich cookie – EventTrender’s version called “FLIP” and a creamy filling – EventTrender’s version called “WHIP”. We added toppings such as pecans, mini M&M’s and sprinkles which is perfect to “DIP”!
In the wonderful world of catering we receive many requests for interactive stations where guests can partake in culinary creating! This “Make Whoopie” station is an idea you can design for home entertaining or large groups! How fun would this be for Sweetest Day (October 16th) or Valentines Day? What about a baby shower or couples shower? Your guests will just love making whoopie!
We could not resist adding a "SIP" element - micro milk shooters!
We have so much more to share with our E-Trenders during "whoopie week" but let's talk about the contest! We used this amazing whoopie pan from Williams-Sonoma to create our presentation and legendary flip recipe which we will share with you later this week.
We also worked with Nosis Design to customize a "make whoopie" graphic design for these hand stamped napkins (which will soon be available to purchase on Etsy - details to follow). Thanks Jessica!
