Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland movie has been a popular theme for events. Incorporating a fantasy movie into your event or tea party allows you to be as creative, imaginative and fun as you possibly can!
Our very own E-Trender Angela worked with Eisenhower High School in Shelby Township, Michigan to create this Mad Hatter Tea Party tablescape for their Homecoming dance. Together, Angela collaborated with Activities Director Amber Bronson and chose an inspiration piece, a photo of the tea party scene from the movie's website and then carefully hand picked each element over a series of months. Some of the best elements like the tea cups, saucers, cake stands, and plates were found second hand at local thrift stores.
We set a place for Alice to sit next to the Hatter, and used an Alice costume as a fun chair cover! Colonial Events draped in our tea party with brightly colored fabrics and upwashed them with amber lighting.
This piece is usually found adorning the front of a fire place or on top of a mantel but here it is the perfect centerpiece to elevate bright and colorful whimsical butterflies, oversize flowers, flower balls, moss and of course...tea cups!
Set a different style chair at each place setting. Display a tea pot on top of a pile of vintage books on the table and use more books to create the chair the Dormouse will sit on!
Top your tea with a cake on a pedestal! Lavender Cakes created this colorful topsy turvy cake for our Mad Hatter Tea Party!
Create table seating cards to incorporate characters from the movie! These ones you can handmake yourself like Angela did using stickers, ribbons, card stock and decorative scrap book paper!
ET Tip ~ When planning a themed event, plan in advance, you will find your best elements when you least expect it. This allows you more time to look around at several locations and carefully select the elements that will fit in perfectly...often at the best prices! Once you have a theme in your head, you will see it everywhere!
WAIT WAIT...YOU'RE NOT LATE...there's still time for more!
