E-Trenders - Do your pups like to party?
Every dog has his (or her) day!
The hot sunny season is here and our pets feel the heat just as we do, sometimes acting a bit sluggish and lazy. Why not perk up their summer by dedicating a special day of fun that is all their own? We guarantee that you will enjoy the event as much as your furry friends E-Trenders!
Here are some quick and easy ideas to host your own “Dogs Days of Summer” party?
The planning and anticipation is half the fun and you may even want to incorporate your pets summer birthday date! It can be simply accomplished verbally or with evites, including just a couple of your pup's favorite pals. More elaborate would involve colorful invitations printed from the internet or purchased from a speciality store and expanding the party to several of your best friend's four legged buddies.
As all you pet owners know, our pooches are easily pleased and made happy. Using that formula, first and foremost are the treats! The saying, "The way to a dog's heart is through his/her stomach" is the absolute truth. Put aside some time to peruse through your neighborhood pet store to discover something new, tasty and healthy. The aisle is filled with tempting biscuits and party candies, the selection is endless. Some specialty pet markets carry a line of doggie ice cream and yogurt that would make a delicious frosty dessert on a hot summer soaked day. If the party is in the yard, cold water in containers with some ice cubes should be available at all times.
Now for the fun part!
Play stations can easily be set up in convenient spaces to provide entertainment for the guest of honor and friends. A child's wagon will serve as a toy box, filled with old tennis balls, frisbees and dog toys. If the wagon has been around for a while and lost its luster, a red spray paint will spruce it up at a low cost. If one isn't available, why not check out some garage sales for a bargain wagon? We up-cycled this rusty old wagon found at a local yard sale. Who knows what other finds you will discover? Adding some brightly colored balloons to the wagon handle will enhance the festivity and add a pop of color!
What dog doesn't enjoy jumping into a pool of water? A child's plastic backyard pool filled with hose water will entertain the "kids" for hours while keeping them cool and comfy. Party hats would be an extra touch and look great on that scrapbook page.
Most every person on your guest list will want to bring a present for you or your pal. How about a "no gifts please" on the invite, "however, if you'd like to make a donation to your favorite animal welfare charity, it would be greatly appreciated". In that case, the gift continues giving.
Don't forget the sweet treats for the pooch owners! We love, love these cookies from Oh Sugar (based in Long Beach, California). Oh Sugar is one of our favorite cookie decorators!

A big shout out to one of EventTrenders favorite rescue dogs, Abby (pictured above)…
Two years ago, Abby was in a high kill facility and a staffer from a Michigan rescue group saw her potential and pulled her just hours before euthanization. Abby had no name then or did not know what a toy or doggie bed was, but her personality soon emerged. Life has sure changed for Abby! She is the most gentle, loving and happy pooch who has found her forever home and says thank you each and every day.
P.S. This was her first Dog Days of Summer party experience and was lovin' it.
