Hello E-Trenders! We hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day Weekend! Happy (almost) Summer!
The summer season kicks off family picnics, lemonade sipping, beach bumming, lounging by the lake and visits to the Farmers' Market!
E-Trender's Angela and Sue headed to the Downtown Rochester Farmers' Market (opening day) to pick up some fresh vegetables for a savory summer gazpacho recipe!
The Rochester DDA does a fantastic job hosting the Farmers' Market! It's truly an event every Saturday with many activities, unique vendors and fresh finds! We love chatting with local Michigan Farmers who are so passionate about their products and always share interesting tips like using beefsteak tomatoes for our gazpacho recipe.
Here is a sneak peek of the gazpacho blog post we are working on.
We plan to share the recipe and "how to" on our next ET blog post AND also have another giveaway later this week as well! Don't you just love the colorful pepper presentation E-Trenders?
Peppers are not just for cooking. You can find many edible bowls at the Farmers' Market just use your imagination!
The market is always filled with flowers! Whether you are looking for fresh-cut flowers to fill a vase or need a variety of flowers for gardening. You can always find high quality flowers and herbs that are cost effective everywhere. We loved this basket arrangement hanging on a vintage weathered windowpane.
So much design inspiration at the the Farmers' Market. What a charming display for an outdoor patio or terrace. We may have to give this a try for an upcoming ET tablescape backdrop!
We picked up some lavender infused tea and fell in love with these darling sachets that would make a perfect takeaway or favor when entertaining guests this summer season.
We also enjoyed a little live music while shopping in the sunshine...
AND of course - filled our bolga basket with fresh produce for our delish gazpacho recipe!
The bolga baskets are for sale every Saturday at the Downtown Rochester Farmers' Market. They are from Ghana, West Africa and all natural, made from elephant grass. The baskets can be reshaped by getting them wet and forming them with your hands.
Purchasing a bolga basket also helps a farmer in Africa.
Going to a Farmers' Market not only offers fresh produce for dinner but so much more.
